Directions: The reserve is west of U.S. 101 near the hot springs resort of Orrs Spring, 11 miles northwest of Ukiah on Comptche Road.

Weather, clothing: The weather can be changeable; layered clothing is recommended.

Trip notes: Montgomery Woods State Reserve, in the heart of the Coast Range, has 700 acres of redwoods, where visitors can walk along one of the park's many trails.
