Trip notes: Containing 4,800 acres, Andrew Molera State Park
is located in the spectacular Big Sur Area. The Big Sur River runs through
the park. Miles of trails wind through meadows, beaches and hilltops. A
primitive trail camp, popular with hikers and bikers, is located approximately
one third mile from the parking area. The area is still relatively undeveloped
and offers great hiking opportunities as well as fishing and beachcombing.
Considering the popularity and grandeur of Big Sur, some campers might
find it hard to believe that any primitive campgrounds are available. Believe
it. This park offers walk-in sites amid some beautiful coastal terrain.
One of the highlights is a great trail that leads one mile to a beautiful
beach. Park rangers often have a one-page flyer available on the best places
to spot sea otters.
