Boy Scout Troop 325 Scoutmaster Minute
February 10, 2009
Andy Duprey, Scoutmaster
George Bernard Shaw (an Irish playwright) said: Democracy is The substitution of election by the incompetent many for appointment by the corrupt few.
Why do we have troop and patrol elections?
Some troops elect only the SPL.
Then the SM and the SPL appoint the other positions.
So why do we have election?
Because we (the committee and the troop) believe that you, the "electorate" of the troop, are wise enough and mature enough to understand the importance of electing the best people for the job.
Think well who you think is a good candidate for each troop position, and vote your conscience.
You will live with the vote for six months.
Thank you and good night scouts.
