Mother's Day

I’m a little cynical. I believe that it was the Hallmark Company who came up with things like Secretary’s Day and Sweetest Day, just so that they could sell more greeting cards. But when it comes to Mother’s Day, I am all for it. Moms are in a class by themselves and deserve every bit of praise and recognition we can give them.
In the spirit of Mother’s Day, I have come up with the top ten things heard from mother’s throughout the centuries. Here they are:
10) "What if everyone jumped off a cliff? Would you do it, too?"
9) "Put on a jacket... you're making me cold."
8) "Don't read in the dark… you’ll ruin your eyes."
7) "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
6) "Don't run with scissors."
5) "Always wear clean underwear in case you get into an accident."
4) "Don't put that in your mouth… you don't know where it's been!"
3) “You are going to poke someone’s eye out with that!”
2) “Eat your vegetables. There are people starving in Africa .”
1) "Because I'm the Mom, that's why!"
I hope you did something special for your mom on Mother’s Day. But don’t let it end there. Sometime in the future, when she least expects it, do something nice for your mom. If you don’t have a mom, do something for your Grandma, or a teacher, or someone else special in your life. When she asks why you are being so nice, just say it is because you appreciate everything she does for you. She will remember that, far longer than anything you do on Mother’s Day.
Thank you for listening.
