A Scout Is Cheerful

Two men seperately decide to leave the same big city and move to the same small town. The first man drove into the small town and stopped at a gas station. He saw an old man sitting down so he went over and asked him: “Excuse me sir, do you live here in this town?”
“Yep” said the old man, “Lived here all my life”.
“How are the people in this town?” the man asked.
“Well, how are they back where you come from?” the old man replied.
“Awful” said the man. “They’re grumpy and irritating. Can’t say there was a good one in the bunch.”
“Well” said the old man, “You’ll find that people here are just about the same.”
A little while later, the second man drove into town, stopped at the same gas station and saw the same old man sitting there. He also walked up to the old man and said “Excuse me sir, do you live here in this town?”
“Yep” said the old man, “Lived here all my life”.
“How are the people in this town?” the man asked.
“Well, how are they back where you come from?” the old man replied.
“Great” said the second man. “They were always cheerful, willing to help, and fun to be around.”
“Well” said the old man, “You’ll find that people here are just about the same.”
I’d say that was one wise old man. Often, the attitude you receive back from someone depends on the attitude you project. If you are grumpy, you get grumpy in return. If you are cheerful, you get cheerful in return. It doesn't *always* work, but give it a try. A Scout is cheerful.
Thank you for listening.
